  • The Medicine Program

    If the paperwork to apply for Patient Assistance Programs is too overwhelming for you, The Medicine Program's volunteers will do it for you for a $5 processing fee per prescription drug requested. (The actual prescription drugs will be free to qualified participants.) Obtain their application on their website or call 573-996-7300 Monday - Friday 9-5pm CST.

    Veterans Health Administration

    If you are an honorably discharged veteran and use VA facilities, most prescriptions are only $7. Visit this website for current benefits information or call the Department of Veterans Affairs, 877-222-8387.

    State Drug Assistance Programs (U.S.)

    From the website: Welcome to the Prescription Drug and Other Assistance Programs section of www.Medicare.gov. This section provides information on public and private programs that offer discounted or free medication, programs that provide help with other health care costs, and Medicare health plans that include prescription coverage.

    Cost Containment Research Institute

    For $8.95/month (3 month minimum required), uninsured or underinsured people can purchase prescription drugs at discounts of up to 85% off regular rates. Check the website to see if drugs you need are among the more than 3500 offered. (Read all information on the site carefully.)
